This Cookie Policy explains how Rapture Music Group (Pty) Ltd (“Rapture”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website and platform, accessible at www.rapturemusic.co, app.rapturemusic.co, and distro.rapturemusic.co (collectively, the “Site”).

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, located at rapturemusic.co/legal/privacy, which explains more broadly how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and provide information to the owners of the site. Cookies may be “session cookies”, which are deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent cookies”, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

We also use similar technologies such as pixels, web beacons, and local storage, which we refer to collectively as “cookies” in this policy unless stated otherwise.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

Analytics, advertising and referral cookies are used by default. They start working when you arrive, and they keep working unless you turn them off. You can turn any of them off at any time, and we stop using them from that moment — from the banner when it is showing, from the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, or from the link at the end of this policy. Essential cookies cannot be turned off, because the Site does not work without them.

2.1 Essential cookies

These cookies are required for the Site and Rapture Console to function and cannot be switched off. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, setting privacy preferences, or submitting a release for distribution. Disabling these cookies through your browser will affect your ability to use core features of the Site.

2.2 Functional cookies

These cookies allow the Site to remember choices you make, such as your login details, language, or display preferences, so we can provide a more personalized experience. If you disable these cookies, some features and personalization may not work correctly.

2.3 Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site, including which pages are visited most often, how far down a page people read, and whether users encounter errors, so we can measure and improve performance. Information collected by these cookies is aggregated and does not directly identify you. These cookies are used unless you turn analytics off in your cookie settings, which you can do at any time from the banner, the link in the footer of every page, or the link at the end of this policy.

We use two analytics providers:

  • Google Analytics 4 — measures visits, the pages you view, how long you spend reading them and which advert or link brought you to the Site. See policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Microsoft Clarity — produces heat maps showing which parts of a page draw attention, and records how pages are used so we can find layouts that confuse people. Clarity hides the contents of form fields, so we do not see what you type. See privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.

2.4 Authentication cookies

Where you choose to sign in using a third-party authentication provider such as Google, cookies may be used to facilitate and remember that sign-in. Your use of Google sign-in is also subject to Google’s own privacy and cookie practices at policies.google.com/privacy.

2.5 Referral cookies

Rapture works with partners, such as music blogs, media pages and creators, who may link to the Site. When you follow one of those links we can remember which partner sent you, so that partner is credited if you create an account and subscribe. The referral cookie holds a random identifier for that visit, lasts up to 30 days, and is used unless you turn referral cookies off in your cookie settings.

Partners never see who you are: they see counts of visits, signups and subscriptions. If you do not allow referral cookies, you can still tell us who referred you by entering their referral code when you sign up.

2.6 Advertising cookies

Rapture advertises on platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google. These cookies let us see which of those adverts actually brought an artist to Rapture, so we can stop paying for the ones that do not work, and so the platforms can show our adverts to people more likely to find them useful. These cookies are used unless you turn advertising off in your cookie settings.

If you turn advertising cookies off, we stop using them from that moment. Information already shared with those platforms before you turned them off is held under their own policies, linked below, and you can ask them to remove it.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on the Site are placed by third-party service providers — Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, the Meta pixel, Google Ads and authentication providers — to help us operate, measure and improve the Site. These third parties may collect information about your use of the Site and other websites over time. We do not control these third-party cookies, and we encourage you to review the relevant third party’s own cookie and privacy policy for more information.

4. How Long Cookies Stay on Your Device

  • Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your device for a fixed period, or until you delete them manually, depending on the purpose of the cookie.

Specific retention periods vary by cookie and provider. Where practical, we aim to use the shortest retention period necessary for the purpose of the cookie.

5. Managing and Disabling Cookies

You can manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or receive a notification before a cookie is stored. Please note that disabling certain cookies, particularly essential cookies, may affect the functionality of the Site and your ability to use certain features.

6. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” feature that signals websites you visit that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. Because there is not yet an accepted standard for how to respond to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.
